Day by day description

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport – Transfer to Hotel

Welcome to Rwanda! Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be guided through immigration and baggage claim before meeting your private driver/guide. You’ll be transferred to Kigali Serena Hotel for check-in and relaxation. Enjoy your first evening in the heart of Rwanda, preparing for your East Africa safari adventure.

Day 2: Kigali Genocide Memorial – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP

After breakfast, visit the powerful Kigali Genocide Memorial, an educational stop that reflects Rwanda’s resilience. Continue with a scenic drive through the countryside to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda, crossing via the Cyanika border post. Stop for lunch at Migano Café en route before arriving at your lodge. Check in and relax in preparation for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Return to Kigali

Begin the day early with a briefing at Bwindi National Park before heading into the forest for your mountain gorilla trek, one of Africa’s most life-changing wildlife encounters. Spend a magical hour with a gorilla family and enjoy a packed lunch on the way. After the trek, drive directly back to Kigali, arriving in the evening. Settle in again at Kigali Serena Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Fly to Kilimanjaro – Transfer to Arusha, Tanzania

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. On arrival in Tanzania, your guide will meet you and drive you to Arusha, the gateway to Northern Tanzania safaris. Check in and relax at your accommodation in preparation for your next East African journey.

Day 5: Fly to Serengeti National Park

After a delicious breakfast, take a one-hour flight from Arusha to Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s wildlife paradise. Upon arrival, embark on a thrilling game drive through Central Serengeti, renowned for its abundant big cats and stunning landscapes. Enjoy a Hot Hamper lunch on the Serengeti plains, surrounded by breathtaking views of the park’s iconic scenery. In the afternoon, continue your safari adventure, spotting wildlife in the park’s diverse habitats, before returning to camp for a relaxing sundowner to cap off an unforgettable day in the Serengeti.

Day 6: Full Day Serengeti National Park

Today is dedicated to exploring Serengeti National Park, one of the world’s premier wildlife destinations. After breakfast at 7:00 am, set out on a full-day safari guided by experts, traversing different areas in search of the park’s remarkable wildlife. Pause midday for a scenic Picnic lunch in the Seronera Valley, known for its diverse animals drawn to the Seronera River. Look out for the Big Five, as well as giraffes, gazelles, and the spectacular Great Migration, with herds of wildebeest and zebras crossing the plains in search of greener pastures.

End the day with a relaxing drive back to camp, where you can unwind with a shower and reflect by the campfire on an unforgettable day in the heart of the Serengeti.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

Embark on an adventure after breakfast with a hamper lunch, heading to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, known as “Eden’s Garden”. Descend over 600 meters into this natural wonder within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where wildlife and communities harmoniously coexist. Enjoy an afternoon game drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands, spotting antelope, elephants, and predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. Keep an eye out for the rare black rhino and if you are lucky, you may spot one or two. After the game drive you will make an ascent leaving the Crater and drive to the lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight, reflecting on an unforgettable day in Tanzania’s natural paradise.

Day 8: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart from Karatu for a scenic two-and-a-half-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Along the way, pass through local villages with roadside markets and food vendors, offering an opportunity to stop and explore. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, enjoy a delicious lunch, and relax before heading out for an afternoon game drive in Tarangire, famous for its large elephant herds. As the day ends, savor a breathtaking sunset during your drive back to the lodge for a restful evening.

Day 9: Tarangire National Park

Equipped with picnic lunch, after breakfast you will go for a full day game drive to Tanzania’s elephant’s headquarters, Tarangire National Park. The morning and afternoon are yours to explore the imposing National Park, host to more than 500 bird species.

You will have lunch in one of the picnic sites and proceed with a game drive in other areas of the park. Big game viewing is absolutely rewarding here as you have uncountable animals to search for from giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests to lions. Tarangire River, the main source of water in the park, tends to draw a lot of wildlife. While you may have an opportunity to see leopards, cheetahs and hyenas, this is a game of chance since they are rare in the park.

Before sunset, you will head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Drive back to Arusha – Depart or Extension to Zanzibar

After breakfast at the lodge, enjoy your last moments in Northern Tanzania as you drive back to Arusha. On the way, if possible, you will get an opportunity for a school visit and get to learn more about education in Tanzania as we spend time with the teachers and children.

You will get to Arusha in a good time for lunch at Arusha Coffee lodge. After lunch you will have the SHANGA Tour, a social enterprise, which employs people with disabilities to create unique and high-quality handmade goods like glassware and homewares using recycled materials. These products are sold in the Shanga shop in Tanzania, as well as around the world, with profits being reinvested back into developing opportunities to employ more people with disabilities. After the excursion, you will transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.

    Day 2: Fly to Serengeti NP – Kogatende Airstrip - Fly to Northern Serengeti with the best Aerial Views

    After a fantastic flight with the best Aerial views,picture yourself on the vast plains of Northern Serengeti, where millions of wildebeests and zebras are gathered, preparing for one of nature’s most dramatic events—the Great Migration. As they approach the Mara River, the tension builds, with the herds hesitating before making the treacherous leap into crocodile-infested waters.     Day 8: Drive to Arusha/ Transfer to JRO

    After breakfast at the lodge, enjoy your last moments in Northern Tanzania as you drive back to Arusha.

    On the way, if possible, you will get an opportunity to visit a school and get to learn more about education in Tanzania as we spend time with the teachers and children.

    You will have a good time for lunch at Arusha Coffee lodge. After lunch you will have the SHANGA Tour, a social enterprise, which employs people with disabilities to create unique and high-quality handmade jewelry, glassware and homewares incorporating recycled materials.

    These products are sold in the Shanga shop in Tanzania, as well as around the world, with profits being reinvested back into developing opportunities to employ more people with disabilities.

    After the excursion, you will transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.
