Overview
Karen Blixen Camp is situated alongside Mara River eastern banks, in the community-owned Mara North Conservancy. Within the camp you can watch the resident hippo pod spewing in the water or grazing along the banks, look out for birds through binoculars or watch zebras coming to drink.
Each of the 22 canvas tents has a spacious deck overlooking the river, a large en suite bathroom and an outdoor shower. Despite the fact that this camp has more tents than the others, it still preserves a peaceful atmosphere and feels private.
You can spend your time on game drives through the conservancy, do a walking safari, hot air balloon ride or visit a Maasai village. Within camp you can visit the on-site cooking school, plant a tree or find out more about the environmental initiatives in place here by joining an ‘eco walk’.
All meals are served on individual tables in the dining area, in front of the river or out in the bush. In the evening there is a campfire lit and you can get together with other guests to discuss the sightings you’ve had that day.
