Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania

Upon arrival to Tanzania, you will be met and welcomed by our Nature in Spirit driver Guide and transfer to Arusha, the drive that takes about 1h30m. Depending on your arrival time, you may be able to see the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro if the weather and good. Along the way you will be able to see the locals conducting their daily activities, don’t shy to tell the driver to stop the vehicle whenever you see anything interesting. You will have dinner and overnight at a lodge strategically located in Arusha city.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast you will depart to Tarangire National Park with packed lunch, as you overland you will experience a change in landscape, environment and culture. As you approach the park, you will be welcomed by medieval baobab trees one of the common trees found in the park

Tarangire is home to a variety of wildlife species including elephants, buffalos, lions and leopards. It is also known for the ancient baobab tree estimated to be over 1000 years old. With its sweeping savannas and luxuriant greenery, the landscape is always breathtaking and leaves you with very beautiful memories. River Tarangire, to which the park draws its name from is the main source of water in the park hence draws a lot animals who come to drink water thus a good opportunity to spot varieties of animal species in one place. If lucky you may even come across a predator hunting. With more than 550 bird species, Tarangire is one the best birding destination for birders.

At around 17:30 you will start heading to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Maasai boma visit/ Mto wa Mbu Cultural experience

After early breakfast at 7:15 am you’ll depart for a 15-minute drive to experience A Day in the Life of a Maasai village just outside Tarangire National Park. Maasai people are believed to be one among the most authentic tribe remaining in East Africa. You will learn how the local do their daily activities like milking the cows, herd cattle, construct or renovate their houses. You will also learn about their culture, preferred foods, traditional songs and dances.

After the boma visit, you will proceed to Mto wa Mbu, a small vibrant village with different culture as it is home to people from more than 120 tribes. You will take a walk through the banana and rice plantation, meet the locals and learn how they conduct their normal daily activities. You will have hot local lunch at Mto wa Mbu a very good opportunity to explore Tanzanian dishes.

As evening draws close you will drive to the lodge and arrive in good time to check-in, shower and have a relaxing drink as you wait for dinner.

Day 4: Lake Eyasi, Hadzabe and Datoga Experience

After an early breakfast you will drive to Lake Eyasi with picnic lunch ready to encounter the African Bushmen. Lake Eyasi is a shallow Lake located on the floor of the Eastern Arm of the Great Rift Valley, acknowledged as the father of all rifts being the oldest on Earth. The lake hosts millions of crustaceans that are very much preferred by flamingos for meals.

When you’re done on the lake, you will meet Hadzabe & Datoga who still hunt for food to date. You will get enough time to interact with these iconic tribesmen documented to live in groups with no hierarchy & rules since all the resources are shared. You will also get to learn how they hunt for food and equipment they use.

After time with the Hadzabe you will head Later on you will drive back to your lodge for lunch, after lunch you will have a short rest of an hour then board your vehicles to short drive of 30minutes to a breathtaking 2h30m nature walk in the jungle to the elephant caves and waterfalls of Ngorongoro forest. The walk takes you through the forest, the elephant caves and Waterfalls. The beauty of this walk is that you get to experience an entirely untouched forest.

The elephant caves found in this forest formed many years ago when elephants used to visit the rocks and hit them continuously to obtain calcium crucial for improving their bone strength. During the walk, you may come across Dik Dik, as well as other forest creatures and an incredible variety of birds.

After the walk you will board your vehicles drive back to the lodge.

Day 5: Game enroute to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast you will head to Serengeti national Park via Ngorongoro conservation Area with game enroute. You will witness spectacular view of Ngorongoro highlands as you drive towards the endless plains. While waiting for your guide to complete the gate formalities, you can climb up a giant kopje to get a better view of the vast savanna that extends to the horizon. These large rocks serve as habitat for various species of flora and wildlife that are unique to these strange-looking stone formations. You will drive to the camp for check-in, lunch and head out again for an afternoon game drive. After and exciting day you will return back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Full day Serengeti National Park

Today after breakfast is another day for a great adventure in Serengeti National Park, home to all five of the Big Five. You may decide to go for optional Balloon ride in the midst the endless plain which end with breakfast in the bush.

Talk to your guide on what you want to see as every area of the Serengeti has something special to offer. Whether it’s witnessing a rhino amble through the bush near Kopjes, spying on a wild dog, or gasping as you watch a huge cat hunt its meal. You will go back to the camp for lunch then head out again for an afternoon game drive at around 15:00. You will enjoy the sunset as you drive back to the camp during the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater tour

After breakfast you will proceed to Ngorongoro Crater, descend in for a wonderful game drive with a picnic lunch which will be taken in one of the designated picnic areas. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the cavernous bowl-shaped crater is in fact a caldera, formed two to three million years ago due to volcanic activities.  The crater is home to unprecedented number of wildlife including the black rhino, lions, magnificent elephants and smaller game. The crater is self-sustaining due to annual rainfall hence animals do not need to migrate in search of food. With a bit of luck, a lot of wildlife can be spotted during one game drive only.

After this exciting game drive, you will ascend the crater and drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Drive back to Arusha

After breakfast, enjoy your drive back to Arusha. You will stop at Mto wa mbu for a local market visit, an opportunity to meet and interact with the locals, see and learn how they conduct their normal daily activities. You will have lunch in a local restaurant, rest a bit and go for biking in the streets of Mto wa mbu. After a good exciting day, you will drive to Arusha. You will arrive in good time for check-in and rest before dinner.

Day 9: Arusha city tour

After breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer to Safe Water Ceramics of East Africa, a local owned workshop producing water filters. You will learn and experience how a ceramic water filter is made out of clay soil, sawdust and colloidal silver capable of filtering water to 99.99% microbial effectiveness. If you will like, you will also get hands on in making a filter.

When you are done with excursion, you will have a short transfer to Cultural Heritage, place where the past and present of the Tanzania’s 120-plus tribes can be viewed in a single compound. The centre boasts of various carvings, gemstones, artifacts, clothing and books.

You will then proceed to a local restaurant in Arusha for lunch. After lunch you will head to SANAA, a wonderful project highlighting marginalized people who make amazing products. People/ Artist with physical disabilities work to create unique products mainly from recycled materials.

After the excursion you will drive back to the lodge, freshen up, check out and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.
