The good thing is, there is a lot to see in Lake Manyara National Park, from its beautiful ever-green vegetation with many species of birds. Depending on the season, you might have the opportunity to see large flocks of flamingos, giraffes, elephants, pelicans, blue and vervet monkeys, African spoonbills, hippos, impalas and zebras.

Day 6 – Following the Great Migration – Full Day

On the fourth day of this iconic Great Migration safari, start a day with a short drive to the Mara River. The journey offers a truly unique landscape of acacia woodlands, open savanna, and a lot of wildlife on the way.

With stops for game viewing and some great shots along the way, there are chances to witness the herds of wildebeests and their close cousins’ zebras even before arriving at the Mara River banks for the much sought-after event of the river crossing.

As you reach the Mara River, the herds are likely to be congregating on the riverbanks finding the courage to reach its opposite bank. To reach there, they need to battle the mammoth Nile crocodiles who have been waiting for this much-anticipated event the whole year.

This is crocodiles’ festival season, so to speak. Everyone to their own capacity makes sure that they get lion’s share as thousands of wildebeests end in crocodiles’ mouths. If the nature of the game permits, you will be able to witness this mouthwatering event as the herds cross the river to the far Northern Serengeti and reach neighboring Masai Mara Nature Reserve in Kenya for much-needed greener pasture.

After an eventful day, drive back en route to Mara River Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 – Game en route to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, tour the heart of Serengeti National Park this morning to Southern Serengeti as you find your way to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

A game en route to Ngorongoro, a land where inexplicably, wild animals co-exist together with Maasai in harmony, will end your 4 days voyage to the recently announced Africa’s best national park.

You will reach Ngorongoro Conservation Area at lunchtime then set out for at least 600 meters drive to descend the inactive Caldera, Ngorongoro Crater where you will be free to enjoy the game drive until late afternoon.

Considered one of the most beautiful places of all time, the Ngorongoro crater is famously referred to as the Garden of Eden.

It has been narrated that, had it not collapsed due to volcanic forces, Ngorongoro Crater would have been a Mountain rivalling Kilimanjaro Mountain for the roof of Africa status.

You will voyage in this wildlife sanctuary in the search of wildlife such as old bull elephants, African buffalo, black rhinoceros, lions, wildebeests, elands, zebras, hippopotamus, blue monkey etc. Leopards and cheetahs can also be stopped, although they are not common in the crater.

You won’t be able to see giraffes in the crater. It is believed that they have continuously failed to walk down the steep sides of the crater. Try your luck to spot giraffes around the crater rim in the late afternoon as you continue to Marera View Lodge for dinner and overnight.
