Day 1: Arrival / transfer to Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our Nature in Spirit Naturalist guide. You will transfer to Arusha which takes approximately 1h30m. On the way you will see people conducting their normal daily activities. Do not shy to tell your guide to stop the vehicle whenever you see anything interesting that you need clarity on. You will arrive the lodge in good time to check-in, freshen up and rest a bit before dinner.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Equipped with your picnic lunch, today after breakfast you will hit the road and drive high into Tanzania’s elephant’s headquarters, Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Passing through villages, you will explore Tanzanians’ lifestyle in this 2h30 journey. Reaching Tarangire, you will be welcomed by medieval baobab, common trees in the park documented to be over 1000 years old. The morning and afternoon are yours to explore the imposing National Park, host to more than 500 bird species.

You will have lunch in one of the picnic sites and proceed with game drive in other areas of the park. Big game viewing is absolutely rewarding here as you have uncountable animals to search for from giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests to lions. Tarangire River, the main source of water in the park, tends to draw a lot of wildlife. While you may have an opportunity to see leopards, cheetahs and hyenas, this is a game of chance since they are rare in the park.

Before the sunset, you will be heading to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Mto wa Mbu cultural experience

After early breakfast at 7:15 am you’ll depart for a 15-minute drive to experience A Day in the Life of a Maasai village. Maasai people are believed to be one among the most authentic tribe remaining in East Africa. You will learn how the local do their daily activities like milking the cows, herd cattle, construct or renovate their houses. You will also learn about their culture, preferred foods, traditional songs and dances.

After the boma visit, you will proceed to Mto wa Mbu, a small vibrant village with different culture as it is home to people from more than 120 tribes. You will take stroll through the banana and rice plantation, meet locals and learn how they conduct their normal daily activities. You will have hot local lunch at Mto wa Mbu a very good opportunity to explore Tanzanian dishes.

You will then proceed to lodge where you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Eyasi, Hadzabe and Datoga Experience

After an early breakfast you will drive to Lake Eyasi with picnic lunch ready to encounter the African Bushmen. Your will steer through Eyasi, the shallow Lake located on the floor of the Eastern Arm of the Great Rift Valley, the lake hosts millions of crustaceans that are very much preferred by flamingos for meals.

You will then head to meet the Hadzabe & Datoga who are known to be hunters and gatherers. You will get to interact with these iconic tribes documented to live in groups and sharing all the resources available. You will also get to learn how they hunt for food and equipment they use.

After time with the Hadzabe you will drive to the lodge for lunch and a short rest of an hour then board your vehicles and have a short drive of 30minutes to a breathtaking 2h30m nature walk in the jungle to the elephant caves and waterfalls of Ngorongoro forest. The beauty of this moderate, 2 – 3hour walk is that you get to experience an entirely untouched forest.

The elephant caves found in this forest formed many years ago when elephants used to visit the rocks and hit them continuously to obtain calcium crucial for improving their bone strength. During the walk, you may come across Dik Dik, as well as other forest creatures and an incredible variety of birds.

After the walk you will board your vehicles drive back to the lodge.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast depart with picnic lunch to Ngorongoro Crater with game enroute, arrive Crater entry by 10:00 am. You will descend in the Crater, a World natural wonder that was believed to be a gigantic mountain similar to Mount Kilimanjaro today and collapsed due to earth movements forming the current Caldera.

You will spend afternoon on the floor of the crater, exploring its rich flora and fauna. Since the crater has a permanent supply of food and water, animals stay inside all year round, increasing your chances to spot as many animals as possible.

You will stop at the picnic site and have lunch and later on continue with the game drive and ascend the caldera around 4:00 pm and drive to the accommodation for dinner and overnight. You have the freedom to spend the evening as you wish, whether you’d like to enjoy a beverage at the bar area, or retire to your room to relax as you wait for dinner.

Day 6: Full day Serengeti National Park

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Serengeti, one of Africa’s wildlife reserves. This day-long adventure is likely to be the highlight of your stay, as the wonders of the Serengeti reveal themselves. Discover the park’s iconic creatures in the early morning Game Drive. If you will be interested, you can take the opportunity to do optional balloon safari, which concludes with a champagne breakfast in the midst of the grasslands.

After the breakfast proceed with game drive, get to see the Serengeti “Kopjes” which are massive boulders of granite standing in a sea of grass which provide shelter to a large variety of flora and fauna. After a sumptuous buffet hot lunch proceed with the afternoon safaris through the golden grasslands. With luck, spot all of Africa’s “big five”—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo.

Day 7: Drive to the airstrip

The end of your wildlife safari is today! However, one last adventure is left: the drive to the airstrip. This is your opportunity to find something special in the landscape as you drive to the airstrip after a relaxing breakfast as a parting memory. You will board on a flight that will land at Arusha and have lunch.

After lunch you will transfer to Arusha airport to catch a flight to Zanzibar.  Upon touch down in Zanzibar you will be met by representative and transfer to the hotel for overnight. Dinner will be on you own arrangement.

Day 8: Stone Town tour / Evening sunset cruise

After breakfast you will go for a stone town tour. Stone town is known worldwide for its fascinating ancient history, Stone Town is the former capital of Zanzibar sultanate which flourished as an important centre of the spice & slave trade in the 19th century. The town retained its importance as the main city of Zanzibar under British colonial rule. Your Nature in Spirit Travel guide will take time to narrate to you all the enthralling stories about Stone Town, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2000. Among many, you will learn sultans’ history, slavery and trade routes, the culture of Zanzibar people like wearing style, shopping, traditional music, while having countless photographing opportunities along the tour. You will then get an opportunity to have lunch on own and get to taste the flavours of Zanzibarian dishes.

You will end your day around 4:30pm appreciating one of the prettiest sunset cruises in Stone Town beach on a traditional dhow sailboat where you can relax with included drinks and snacks for two hours and watch the sun set in the paradise of Stone town. You will then return to the hotel for the night. Dinner on your own.

Day 9: Full day snorkelling and Dolphin tour with BBQ lunch

Today you could have the entire day on you own or you could choose to go for a fascinating day doing snorkelling and dolphins’ trip, complemented by barbeque lunch in the sea. After breakfast, you will be met by a local scholar who will brief you about today’s pursuits. Before setting out for this enchanting tour, you will also get provided with all necessary snorkelling equipment. During the experience, your guide, boat captain and his assistant will be helpful in showing you the best spots around. With a bit of luck, you will be able to see Dolphins up close. These are social and friendly mammals that you can even get just meters away from them, however with caution and respect.

You will have a tasty barbeque lunch after the astonishing experience and have some free time at the beach before you drive back to the hotel for self-time and overnight.  Dinner on your own.

Day 10: Morning in Leisure / Fly to Dar

Today after breakfast you will have the morning to yourself enjoying the beautiful sunrise in Zanzibar as it your last day in Tanzania. In the afternoon, you will transfer to the airport to catch a flight to Dar es Salaam that connects with international flight.
