Welcome to Tanzania! Get the opportunity to view the Great Migration on their calving season in Ndutu, Southern Serengeti ecosystem. Calving season takes place from January to March, with February being the peak time of the season. This itinerary provides an excellent opportunity for wildlife viewing in the Serengeti southern plains, where over 500,000 wildebeest calves are born in February.

Day 1: Arrival / Welcome to Tanzania

On arrival to Tanzania, you will be transferred to Kibo Palace Hotel by our Nature in Spirit Naturalist Guide, where you will stay in a charming atmosphere and enjoy every comfort you need. As you overland to Arusha, which is about 1 hour drive, you will see locals alongside the road doing their daily activities. Do not shy to ask your driver guide to stop the vehicle for you to experience anything interesting happening along the road. As you get to the hotel check-in, get settled, rest and get ready to start your adventure tomorrow.

Day 2: Fly to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast transfer to Arusha airport and board a 1hour flight to Serengeti National Park. As you touch the ground, you will meet you Naturalist Guide who will be taking you for game enroute to camp for lunch. You will get to the camp on good time to check-in, have lunch and have 2 hours of free time discovery around the camp in the afternoon.

At around 15:00, you will head out in this rich ecosystem prepare yourself to explore Serengeti as you go for an afternoon game drive. You will witness Africa’s iconic savannah landscape and sheer number of ungulates roaming these grassy plains.

At around 18:00, you will return to camp on time for shower, camp fire and a sundowner before dinner.

Day 3: Morning Game drive Serengeti Central / Drive to Ndutu Ngorongoro

Today you have the opportunity to go for optional balloon safari that starts at 04:30 am and ends with a champagne breakfast in the mist of the Serengeti plains. You will then proceed with morning game drive, another opportunity to explore the iconic savanna plains of Serengeti National Park. With luck you see a good number of wildlife but also see the Serengeti Kopjes, one the attractions in Serengeti.

You will go back to the camp for lunch and check out. At around 02:00pm, you will leave the camp heading to Ndutu with game en route. Ndutu is located in Ngorongoro Conservation Area, south of Serengeti National Park. There are almost two million wildebeest and zebra that move through the area each year between December to May. Ndutu is also home to cheetah, lion, giraffe and hundreds of bird species. February is usually the calving season where wildebeest deliver approximately 8,000 calves a day.

You will explore Lake Ndutu, the alkaline lake that attracts a wide range of wildlife that come around to drink and for cooling off their bodies. Continue searching for the best game viewing spots across Ndutu, which is usually heavily populated with elephants, wildebeests, Zebra, antelopes and big cats especially from December to April. As dusk draws close, you will leave the Lake behind you as you drive to Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Full day Ndutu

After breakfast, head out to enjoy a full day game drive in Ndutu area, following the herds of wildebeests, Zebras and Gazelles who will be culminating the famous calving season, forming a sea of ungulates that attracts hungry predators, making live kill a possibility to spot.

You will have lunch in the middle of the wilderness before going on with an exploration of awesome sights of the great vibrant herds of wildebeest, zebras and antelopes.

The blanket of grass is advantageous for the herds as it provides cover from predators as well as providing much-needed nutrients to calves who are able to run minutes after they are born and within 3 days, they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herds.

Late in the afternoon, return to camp for shower, self-exploration around the camp and dinner overnight.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch towards Ngorongoro crater, famously known as Eden’s Garden, as it gives you a dramatic adventurous journey down to the 600 meters which itself is a highlight of the safari. This Multiple land use property which has people and animals living together in harmony will leave you with life time memories of the spectacular beauty you will witness.

After a delicious lunch you will set out back for an afternoon game drive which will take you through the Ngorongoro Highlands, offering plenty of opportunities to spot animals. You may spot antelopes and gazelles, the African elephant and the respected group of animals; the predators like lion, leopard, cheetahs and hyena. If you are lucky, mother nature might give an opportunity to spot the rare black rhino.

Later in the afternoon, drive to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Drive back to Arusha

After a relaxing breakfast, you will drive to Arusha for lunch in Arusha town then proceed with transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
