Day 1 – Welcome to Tanzania

Upon arrival at the Airport, you’ll meet a representative from Nature in Spirit Travel who will transfer you to your small Boutique Hotel a kilometre away from the heart of Arusha City Centre. Settle into your hotel ready for tomorrow’s excursions.

Day 2 – Walk Through Arusha Villages to Waterfall and Cooking Lesson

The real experience of Tanzania unfolds today as you get to visit Mount Meru Waterfall, take cooking lessons, enjoy the local cuisines, winding up the day by exploring a complete guide to preparing coffee locally.

Your expert local guide will lead you in a 3 hours hike to the waterfall, the best experience that passes you through villages around Arusha countryside where the scenery is always spectacular. Weather permitting, you will get astonishing views to Mount Kilimanjaro.

Heading into the midday, you will visit a local home near Arusha city ready to take part in cooking different African local dishes. Along with the use of various spices, our private cooking trainer will lead you into cooking some of Tanzania’s most loved dishes such as ugali, banana plantain and mixed vegetables.

Just after enjoying the delicious local cuisine you have participated in preparing, you’ll learn the whole process of preparing coffee in local methods. Join a local family who will happily take you through their small farm where you will observe the African way of cleaning, confection and degustation of coffee, making it ready for domestic use.

Return to your hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Afternoon & Night Game Drive at Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at your hotel or at a local Tanzanian home, start a 2h30 scenic drive to the elephants headquarter, Tarangire National Park. There you will have morning and afternoon game drives.

Your guide will lead you to search for perfect game viewing spots within this 3,000 square kilometers park, appreciated for its medieval baobab trees believed to be over 1000 years old. Your game drive will concentrate around Tarangire River, a main source of water in the park that lures many animals around such as giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests or lions.

In the afternoon, your driver-guide will lead you to the perfect area for a picnic lunch. Then continue scanning for various animals + birds in Tarangire (more than 500 species have been spotted).

In the late afternoon, you will drive to your camp, relax after a full day game drive.

Day 4 – Maasai Experience, Local school, Banana & Rice Plantations and Carving Factory Visits

Enjoy your breakfast today as you look to embark on another day designated for enchanting cultural excursions.

Start a day by visiting among the most unique tribes in Africa, Maasai and get to know their traditions and lifestyle. Furthermore, you will engage into their day to day activities like milking the cows. Enjoy drinking the milk you had hand in preparing and proceed to a local school where you will observe an interesting African way of imparting formal education to the children.

Proceed to the small dazzling Mto wa Mbu town for another exciting local lunch as you look to get another chance to explore closely the people of Tanzania by a short visit to rice and banana plantations. You will be surprised to see hectors of cash crops.

You will call it a day by visiting a carving studio where you will learn the Tanzanian labour system as you get to see artists enjoying their daily activities.

After an eventful day, drive to Kudu lodge. There, enjoy a relaxing dinner & overnight.

Day 5 – Lake Manyara National Park and Guided Walking Tour

Start the day with an exciting, panoramic driving tour to one of the most beautiful parks in Africa, Lake Manyara National Park. There you will spend the day enjoying a game drive and guided walking tour.

You will visit Lake Manyara Treetop walkway, experience a sky-high walking adventure across the eye-catching evergreen forests of Lake Manyara National Park. This 370 metres distance and height of 18metres airwalk gives you an opportunity to explore wildlife (mainly birds & monkeys) in a completely different perspective.

After lunch, you are joined by a park ranger fully equipped with a rifle who will accompany you into spotting different animals in the park up close. Partnering with your guide and ranger, you will move carefully & quietly around different park areas searching for good wildlife spotting opportunities.

Later on, you will be guided back to the jeep for afternoon game drive within Lake Manyara National Park famously known to host lions who climb trees. Apart from its beautiful flora, Lake Manyara National Park gives you a good chance to see varieties of birds, primates, elephants, cape buffalo etc.

Tonight, you will enjoy dinner and overnight at Kudu Lodge.

Day 6 – Lake Eyasi and Elephant Caves

This morning after breakfast, you will depart to Lake Eyasi where you will see the Bushmen and even interact with them. This experience will be followed by a walk in the jungle, looking for the elephants’ caves.

You will tour Lake Eyasi, a shallow Lake located on the floor of Eastern Arm of the Great Rift Valley, the father of all rifts being the oldest in the world. Depending on the season, you will be able to see good populations of flamingos and pelicans.

Next, visit the Bushmen societies of Hadzabe & Datoga who live around Lake Eyasi and still hunt for food to this day. Get to interact with these iconic tribes who are believed to live in groups of around twenty people with no hierarchy & rules, all the resources are equally shared.

Later in the afternoon, you will drive back to Karatu town for a hot lunch followed by a breathtaking 2h30 nature walk in the jungle around Ngorongoro forest, venturing elephant caves and waterfalls.

The elephant caves were formed many years ago when elephants used to visit the rocks and hit them continuously to obtain calcium needed to improve their bone strength. The resulting big holes from elephant’s rock hits are what today’s world calls the “elephant caves”.

Tonight, indulge in a delicious dinner at Kudu lodge.

Day 7 – Ngorongoro Crater and En-route to Serengeti National Park

After early breakfast, set off for an admirable morning game drive in Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will later continue to a dramatic adventurous journey down to the 600 meters self-contained ecosystem of Ngorongoro Crater, a journey much enjoyed by our guests.

You will navigate into different areas of this largest inactive caldera famously known as the 8th natural wonder of the world resulted from a mountain that sank million years ago. Seeing the beauty of Ngorongoro Crater, you will come to understand why most people refer to it as the Garden of Eden.

While more than 500 bird species have been spotted in Ngorongoro Conservation Area to date there is also a lot more to see such as wildebeests, buffalos, zebras, elands, grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, old bulls elephants, lions as well as scavengers like spotted hyenas or jackals.

Endangered black rhinos, cheetahs & leopards can also be spotted, although rarely. In fact, Ngorongoro is one of the few locations in the continent of Africa where you can witness the black rhinos.

You will enjoy your lunch in the Ngorongoro wilderness, then start a drive full of wild animals en route to Serengeti National Park.

Day 8 – Serengeti National Park full day Game Drive

Today your skillful local expert will lead you for a priceless big game viewing in the award-winning park and UNESCO World Heritage site, Serengeti National Park.

This is the land where the Great Migration of more than 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and many other species of antelopes occurs every year, attracting thousands of carnivores.

Come up close and personal with an unusual big number of predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas as you drive a full day in one of the largest parks in Africa endowed with large wildlife density that is yet to be seen anywhere else in the world.

After enjoying a tasty lunch in the midst of Serengeti, you will proceed to different zones of the endless plains of the park searching for more wildlife.

Return in the late afternoon back to Osinon Tented Camp for dinner and overnight after an exceptional game viewing today.

Day 9 – Morning Game Drive in Serengeti National Park back to Karatu

Today you will hit the road driving back to Karatu. On the way, you will enjoy an en-route game drive in Serengeti National Park, passing through Seronera River, the biggest source of water in central Serengeti that attracts grazers and hunters for drinking and cooling their bodies.

There is a chance to spot several wildlife from the big cats, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, antelopes, hippos, crocodiles on your way out of the park.

You will have lunch on the road, trying to reach Karatu before the sunset.

Day 10 – Back to Arusha and Plane to Zanzibar

Your journey to Arusha takes you through scenic rolling hills and villages. Enjoy a hot lunch experience in the city and transfer to ARK airport for your afternoon flight to Zanzibar.

You will land at the spice islands in the evening where you will meet our representative who will be ready to transfer you to Maru Maru hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 11 – Stone town walking tour and cooking class

Today after breakfast, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000, Stone town awaits you ready to spoil you with its medieval history.

Stone town is the former capital of Zanzibar sultanate which flourished as an important centre of spices & slave trade in the 19th century. It is understood that Stone town went on to retain its importance as the main city of Zanzibar even after the British established its colonial rule.

Passing through different points in this historical town, your Nature in Spirit Travel guide will take time to narrate to you various awe-inspiring stories about Stone town from sultans’ history, slavery and trade routes to the culture of Zanzibar people such as wearing style, shopping and traditional music.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit a local house for a cooking lesson. The local cooking lesson you had experienced in Arusha might have given you a glance on our local foods, however, cooking in Zanzibar is completely a different experience.

People of Zanzibar like to cook, they take it as an art and hands down, they have among the most decorated dishes in Africa prepared by chefs who know the best way to put together the spices and pull the mouthwatering dishes as a result.

Relish lunching on the food you have had hand in preparing this afternoon.

Dinner will be on your own today, a great opportunity to try more traditional dishes on your own. The unmissable fish market is a great option.

Day 12 – Transfer to the Southern Unguja

This morning, indulge in a delicious breakfast at your hotel, relax and get time to appreciate the spectacular sunrise as you look to hit the road to the Southern Unguja.

A journey to the south will take you through Africa’s most Swahili streets famed for their peaceful life. As the evening falls, reach Unguja lodge for the overnight.

Day 13 to 14 – At leisure: visit the Island and Enjoy the Water Activities

In the next two days we will set you loose for activities on your own. You will be in the driver’s seat, so to speak. Plan any activity of your choice around the Southern parts of Unguja.

There are a lot of ventures to offer including walking tours, diving excursions, and parasailing, just to name a few. Unguja Lodge organizes varieties of pursuits like diving, snorkeling, village tours and others that you can book and pay for directly.

Day 15 – Transfer to Airport and Fly Back Home

Today marks the end to your unforgettable experiences in Zanzibar. Depart to Stone town after breakfast before flying back home.
